Description

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a natural product of the human (and other mammals’) respiratory process.

The air we breathe is made up of about 20% oxygen, 0.03% CO2 and the rest Nitrogen. We exhale about 16% oxygen and 4% CO2, with the recommended maximum CO2 level for 8 hours of exposure at 0.1% or 1,000 parts per million (PPM), set by The American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

To keep the CO2 level to less than 1,000 PPM requires at least 15 cfm of air per person. One of the first symptoms of high CO2 levels is drowsiness, and if conditions worsen, higher levels of carbon dioxide can cause headache, dizziness, and nausea.

The UltimateAir® RecoupAerator®’s optional CO2 sensor monitors the amount of carbon dioxide in an enclosed area. Based on its preset function, it signals to the RecoupAerator® to increase airflow and ventilation when CO2 levels reach an undesired level.

RecoupAerator® owners have the option of selecting trip points, increasing the ventilation rate to deliver more oxygen rich air from outside and exhaust the higher inside CO2 levels. When the CO2 falls below the preset level, the RecoupAerator® will reduce the airflow to the normal ventilation setting.
